Venezuela Wise decision Bans Coke

CONCLUSIONS: Venezuela bans artificial sweetener Coke Zero from the shelf citing “unspecified dangers to health”. A couple of days later they mentioned that Coke Zero contains sodium calamate, which was banned in 1969 from the US for causing cancer and reproductive problems. Of course, Coke denies this.

I was amazed to finally see a country stepping up to protect the health of the people rather than profit. Unfortunately, the United States is a profit-driven nation and the health of it’s citizens takes a backseat to profit in many, many instances. Some examples include; H1N1 shots being approved and pushed after only a 3 month study on rats, or the FDA’s approval of aspartame with no long term or valid studies on it’s safety as well as refusing to take it off the market although it has been proven toxic, or allowing the use of hydrogenated oils and letting company’s advertise their product as having 0 grams of Trans-fat although it clearly contains it.

Obviously, our citizens are among the least healthy in the world, largely due to big business and the ruthless pursuit of profit. Many of our big food producers and ‘health’ agencies are run by greedy people who can care less about the health of people. Hopefully one day we will have a leader who can change all of that.
