Physiotherapy

Physiotherapy is greatly supported here in our office. We use these modalities on a daily basis. Here are some of the physiotherapy services we provide:

Stim Machine
Electrical muscle stimulation (EMS) is also known as neuromuscular electrical stimulation (NMES) or electromyostimulation It is the elicitation of muscle contraction using electric impulses. The impulses are generated by a device and delivered through electrodes on the skin in direct proximity to the muscles to be stimulated. The impulses mimic the action potential coming from the central nervous system, causing the muscles to contract. The electrodes are generally pads that adhere to the skin. EMS is both a form of electrotherapy and of muscle training.

Mechanical Intersegmental Traction

Mechanical Traction is used to increase the joint space between spinal levels. It helps to relieve stress, restore normal spinal curves, improve balance and strength, increas spinal range of motion, and improve circulation of the spinal fluid. Patients use the mechanical traction unit almost every time they come into our office.

Exercise Therapy

Exercise Therapy is used in the office to strengthen the weakened muscles. We use resistance band training as well as mirror image exercises.  The resistance band exercises not only strengthen the weak muscles but also helps prevent reoccurring injuries

Stability Board and Ball

Stability board and ball exercises are precisely used to improve the postural muscles. Increased strength in the postural muscles helps stabilize your spine and prevent further injury.

Trigger Point Therapy

Trigger point therapy is a bodywork technique that involves the applying of pressure to tender muscle tissue in order to relieve pain and dysfunction in other parts of the body. Sometimes massage and trigger point therapy are performed together.

Diathermy

Diathermy is a method that involves generating local heat in body tissues by high-frequency electromagnetic currents. It is used to help relieve pain and muscle aches at a deeper level. It is also used for bursitis, hematoma, sprain and strains.

UltraSound

Ultrasounds are used in doctor’s offices to promote healing, decrease inflammation, and decrease muscle spasms. Ultrasound machines use sound waves to penetrate through the skin to the underlying muscles and vasculature.
